RESUMO

From a global perspective, cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), the leading factor accounting for population mortality, and circRNAs, RNA molecules with stable closed-loop structures, have been proven to be closely related. The latent clinical value and the potential role of circRNAs in CVDs have been attracting increasing, active research interest, but bibliometric studies in this field are still lacking. Thus, in this study, we conducted a bibliometric analysis by using software such as VOSviewer, CiteSpace, Microsoft Excel, and the R package to determine the current research progress and hotspots and ultimately provide an overview of the development trends and future frontiers in this field. In our study, based on our search strategy, a total of 1206 publications published before July 31, 2023 were accessed from the WOSCC database. According to our findings, there is a notable increasing trend in global publications in the field of circRNA in CVDs. China was found to be the dominant country in terms of publication number, but a lack of high-quality articles was a significant fault. A cluster analysis on the co-cited references indicated that dilated cardiomyopathy, AMI, and cardiac hypertrophy are the greatest objects of concern. In contrast, a keywords analysis indicated that high importance has been ascribed to MI, abdominal aortic aneurysm, cell proliferation, and coronary artery diseases.

RESUMO

Using historical data on energy from (Malanima 2020) and GDP from the Maddison Project Database, this paper investigates the energy-growth nexus in a less-studied region, mainly Australia and New Zealand, since 1870. The long annual series allow meaningful application of recently developed time-varying and quantile Granger causality analysis. Results indicate that there is a bi-directional Granger causal relationship between economic growth and energy, coal, and oil consumption at both ends of the distribution, and during various time periods over the past 150 years. Little evidence is found on the Granger causal relationship from gas consumption to economic growth, but some evidence on the direction from economic growth to gas consumption. The Granger causal relationships between electricity consumption and GDP change over time, but results suggest much closer links between the two in most recent decades, and big (positive and negative) changes in electricity consumption significantly Granger causes economic growth.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a physical and mental disorder in which long-term fatigue is the main symptom. CFS patients are often accompanied by functional gastrointestinal diseases (FGIDs), which lead to decreased quality of life and increased fatigue. Prolong-life-with-nine-turn-method (PLWNT) is a kind of physical and mental exercise. Its operation includes adjusting the mind, breathing and cooperating with eight self-rubbing methods and one upper body rocking method. PLWNT was used to improve the digestive function in ancient China and to treat FGIDs such as functional dyspepsia and irritable bowel syndrome in modern times. Previous studies have shown that PLWNT can reduce fatigue in patients with CFS. But it is unclear whether the effect of PLWNT on CFS fatigue is related to gastrointestinal function. The aim of this study was to explore the relationship between PLWNT and fatigue and gastrointestinal function in patients with CFS. METHODS: This study is a non-inferiority randomized controlled trial (RCT). The whole study period is 38 weeks, including 2 weeks of baseline evaluation, 12 weeks of intervention and 6 months of follow-up. Ninety-six CFS patients will be stratified random assigned to the intervention group (PLWNT) and the control group (cognitive behavior treatment) in the ratio of 1:1 through the random number table generated by SPSS. In the evaluation of results, Multidimensional Fatigue Inventory-20 (MFI-20), Gastrointestinal Symptom Rating Scale (GSRS), Bristol Stool Form Scale (BSFS), and Short Form 36 item health survey (SF-36) will be evaluated at week 0 (baseline), week 6 (midterm), week 12 (endpoint) and month 9 (follow up). The intestinal flora will be evaluated at week 0 (baseline) and week 12 (endpoint). The data results will be processed by statistical experts. The data analysis will be based on the intention to treat principle and per-protocol analysis. In the efficacy evaluation, repeated measurement analysis of variance will be used for data conforming to normal distribution or approximate normal distribution. The data which do not conform to the analysis of repeated measurement variance will be analyzed by the generalized estimation equation Linear discriminant analysis will be used to clarify the difference species of intestinal flora. The significance level sets as 5%. The safety of interventions will be evaluated after each treatment session. DISCUSSION: This trial will provide evidence to PLWNT exerting positive effects on fatigue and gastrointestinal function of CFS. It will further explore whether the improvement of PLWNT on CFS fatigue is related to gastrointestinal function. TRIAL REGISTRATION: The trial was registered at Chinese Clinical Trial Registry http://www.chictr.org.cn/showproj.aspx?proj=151456 (Registration No.: ChiCTR2200056530). Date: 2022-02-07.

RESUMO

The incorporation of insulating polymers into conjugated polymers has been widely explored as a strategy to improve mechanical properties of flexible organic electronics. However, phase separation due to the immiscibility of these polymers has limited their effectiveness. In this study, we report the discovery of multiple non-covalent interactions that enhances the miscibility between insulating and conjugated polymers, resulting in improved mechanical properties. Specifically, we have added polyvinyl chloride (PVC) into the conjugated polymer PM6 and observed a significant increase in solution viscosity, indicative of favorable miscibility between these two polymers. This phenomenon has been rarely observed in other insulating/conjugated polymer composites. Thin films of PM6/PVC exhibit a much-improved crack-onset strain of 19.35 %, compared to 10.12 % for pristine PM6 films. Analysis reveal that a "cyclohexyl-like" structure formed through dipole-dipole interactions and hydrogen bonding between PVC and PM6 acted as a cross-linking site in the thin films, leading to improved mechanical properties. Moreover, PM6/PVC blend films have demonstrated excellent thermal and bending stability when applied as an electron donor in organic solar cells. These findings provide new insights into non-covalent interactions that can be utilized to enhance the properties of conjugated polymers and may have potential applications in flexible organic electronics.

RESUMO

Plantation forests play an important role in carbon sink in terrestrial ecosystems. Based on tree rings of five main plantation tree species (Robinia pseudoacacia, Quercus variabilis, Cunninghamia lanceolata, Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica, and Pinus tabuliformis) at 25 sites in China, we calculated the average annual NPP of standard trees in each study area by the biomass equations and extended to the stand scale. The relationships between NPP and stand age were fitted by the InTEC and Law models. The results showed that NPP of R. pseu-doacacia, C. lanceolata, and P. tabuliformis plantations increased to a peak and then leveling off with stand age, while that of Q. variabilis and P. sylvestris var. mongolica plantations reached a peak and then showed a decreasing trend. The inflection points of NPP-stand age curve for different planatations was 11 years for P. sylvestris var. mongolica, 14 years for C. lanceolata, 16 years for P. tabuliformis, and 20 years for R. pseudoacacia. The NPP peak was 6.65, 7.58, 4.70 and 2.59 t·hm-2·a-1, respectively. Both the InTEC and Law NPP-stand age models had high fitting accuracy at a large scale, with the lowest R2 of 0.95 and RMSE of 0.55 t·hm-2·a-1 for the P. sylvestris var. mongolica InTEC model and the highest R2 of 0.99 and RMSE of 0.26 t·hm-2·a-1 for the C. lanceolata InTEC model. The construction of NPP-stand age relationship for major plantations in China provided mechanistic support for the estimation of carbon sinks in plantations at long time scales and provided a reference for the diversification of afforestation tree species selection.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Single-agent chemotherapy using methotrexate or actinomycin D is the first-line treatment for patients with low-risk gestational trophoblastic neoplasia. Various methotrexate-based and actinomycin D-based single-agent regimens can be used. However, there is insufficient evidence to determine the superior regimen. To guide doctors in selecting a single-agent chemotherapy regimen for patients with low-risk gestational trophoblastic neoplasia, we will compare two regimens. METHODS: We will conduct a multicentre, randomized, prospective clinical trial. Selected low-risk gestational trophoblastic neoplasia patients (FIGO score 0-4) will be randomized 1:1 to a biweekly single-dose actinomycin D group or a multiday methotrexate therapy group. The actinomycin D group will receive IV pulse actinomycin D (1.25 mg/m2) every 14 days, and the methotrexate group will receive methotrexate (50 mg) intramuscularly on days 1, 3, 5, and 7 (4 doses per cycle) and leucovorin (15 mg) intramuscularly on days 2, 4, 6, and 8. This process will be repeated every 14 days. The primary endpoints will include the complete remission rate by single-agent therapy and the overall complete remission rate. The secondary endpoints will include the duration needed to achieve complete remission after single-agent chemotherapy, number of courses needed to achieve complete remission after single-agent chemotherapy, incidence and severity of adverse effects, effects on menstrual conditions and ovarian function based on the anti-Mullerian hormone level, and patient-reported quality of life. DISCUSSION: Previous clinical trials comparing biweekly single-dose actinomycin D with multiday methotrexate therapy for treating low-risk gestational trophoblastic neoplasia patients failed to meet the expected case number. Through this multicentre study, the complete remission ratio and efficacy difference between biweekly single-dose actinomycin D and multiday methotrexate therapy will be obtained. This study will also provide the basis for formulating a preferred regimen for treating patients with low-risk gestational trophoblastic neoplasia. RESUMO

Objective: To develop a few-shot learning (FSL) approach for classifying optical coherence tomography (OCT) images in patients with inherited retinal disorders (IRDs). Methods: In this study, an FSL model based on a student-teacher learning framework was designed to classify images. 2,317 images from 189 participants were included. Of these, 1,126 images revealed IRDs, 533 were normal samples, and 658 were control samples. Results: The FSL model achieved a total accuracy of 0.974-0.983, total sensitivity of 0.934-0.957, total specificity of 0.984-0.990, and total F1 score of 0.935-0.957, which were superior to the total accuracy of the baseline model of 0.943-0.954, total sensitivity of 0.866-0.886, total specificity of 0.962-0.971, and total F1 score of 0.859-0.885. The performance of most subclassifications also exhibited advantages. Moreover, the FSL model had a higher area under curves (AUC) of the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves in most subclassifications. Conclusion: This study demonstrates the effective use of the FSL model for the classification of OCT images from patients with IRDs, normal, and control participants with a smaller volume of data. The general principle and similar network architectures can also be applied to other retinal diseases with a low prevalence.

RESUMO

Polymerized small-molecule acceptors (PSMAs) have made significant progress as the application in all-polymer solar cells (all-PSCs). Most PSMAs are constructed by near-infrared fused-ring electron acceptors via Stille polymerization, such as Y-series acceptors. However, very limited non-fused electron acceptors with simplified synthetic complexity have been used in PSMAs. In this work, two non-fused PSMAs with a benzothiadiazole (BT) core are developed for application in all-PSCs. The S-O non-covalent interaction and the regioregularity have been introduced to improve the crystallinity and charge transport properties. As a result, a high-power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 11.42% with an enhanced photocurrent has been obtained in these regioregular PBTO-γ-based solar cells, representing the highest PCEs based on non-fused PSMAs. The encouraging results will intrigue more design of non-fused PSMAs toward high-performance all-PSCs.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a chronic disease characterized by various symptoms such as pathological fatigue, cognitive dysfunction, and inability to recover energy after waking up. The Yijinjing, a kind of health care practice from ancient China, consists of 12 movements, and it is considered as one of the complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) for health maintenance, health care, and disease healing. In this study, multiple scales were used to evaluate the effects of Yijinjing intervention on the clinical symptoms of CFS. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Forty patients with CFS were randomly assigned to Yijinjing group and the cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) group separately. The Yijinjing intervention was practiced 6 times per week, among which one exercise should be guided by the teacher of the faculty in the university, and another 5 times should be finished at home over 12 consecutive weeks. Similarly, the control group received cognitive education, including popular science lectures and psychological counseling related to CFS prevention and treatment for 12 weeks. Multidimensional Fatigue Inventory-20 (MFI-20), Short Form 36-item Health Survey (SF-36), and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) were assessed before and after intervention. RESULTS: Intra-group analysis showed that the differences in MFI-20, SF-36, and PSQI were statistically significant (p < 0.05) after the intervention of 12 weeks Yijinjing intervention. Compared with the CBT group, the differences in MFI-20 and PSQI of the Yijinjing group were statistically significant (p < 0.05), but SF-36 was superior to the CBT group in terms of physical function, bodily pain, general health, and vitality (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Yijinjing can significantly improve sleep disorders, fatigue, and quality of life in patients with CFS and is superior to behavioral cognitive education in pain and vitality. The study was registered with Chinese Clinical Trial Registry: ChiCTR-INR-17010694.

RESUMO

Background: Nowadays, e-learning significantly affects college students' academic life. This study aims to examine the factors that influence college students' satisfaction with online learning outcomes. Method: The study population consisted of undergraduate students from Dalian Medical University, with a total of 715 college students participating in the study. Out of these participants, 602 valid questionnaires were obtained. Demographic data was analyzed using SPSS.22, and the data was cleaned and prepared for testing the research hypotheses. The proposed research framework was examined using structural equation modeling (SEM) through Smart-PLS 3.0. Results: The results of the study showed that student satisfaction with learning outcomes was positively correlated with several factors: quality of teacher instruction (ß = 0.100, p < 0.0001), quality of e-learning platforms (ß = 0.059, p < 0.0001), individual learner factors such as learning motivation (ß = 0.112, p < 0.001), and e-learning environment (ß = 0.469, p < 0.001). Additionally, self-learning efficacy (ß = 0.081, p < 0.0001), learning strategies (ß = 0.031, p < 0.001), and learning motivation (ß = 0.039, p < 0.001) were found to have mediating effects. Conclusion: Understanding the satisfaction of college students with the effect of e-learning holds great significance in coping with teaching methods in unexpected situations. It enables adjustments to teaching strategies, improvements to learning platforms, and mobilization of students' motivation. Thus, it serves as a valuable reference in addressing unexpected teaching scenarios.

RESUMO

Importance: Both tuina therapy and yijinjing exercise were beneficial to patients with nonspecific chronic neck pain, but the evidence for this combination is limited. Objective: To investigate the effectiveness of tuina therapy combined with yijinjing exercise compared with tuina therapy alone for patients with nonspecific chronic neck pain. Design, Setting, and Participants: A 12-week, open-label, analyst-blinded randomized clinical trial (8-week intervention plus 4-week observational follow-up) was conducted from September 7, 2020, to October 25, 2021. A total of 102 participants with nonspecific chronic neck pain were recruited, and data were analyzed from December 10, 2021, to March 26, 2022. Interventions: Participants in the tuina group or tuina combined with yijinjing group received 3 sessions of tuina therapy per week for 8 weeks, for a total of 24 sessions. Participants in the tuina combined with yijinjing group practiced yijinjing 3 times a week for 8 weeks, including an instructor-guided exercise at the hospital and 2 self-practice exercises at home. Main Outcomes and Measures: The primary outcome was change in visual analog scale (VAS) score from baseline to week 8. Secondary outcomes included Neck Disability Index scores, Self-rating Anxiety Scale scores, tissue hardness, and active range of motion. Results: This randomized clinical trial recruited 102 patients (mean [SD] age, 36.5 [4.9] years; 69 [67.6%] female) who were randomized to 2 groups. All 102 patients (100%) completed all the outcome measurements. The mean difference in VAS scores from baseline at week 8 for the tuina combined with yijinjing group was -5.4 (95% CI, -5.8 to -5.1). At week 8, the difference in VAS score was -1.2 (95% CI, -1.6 to -0.8; P < .001) between the tuina group and the tuina combined with yijinjing group. The effectiveness of tuina combined with yijinjing in treating nonspecific chronic neck pain remained at the 12-week follow-up. Conclusions and Relevance: In this randomized clinical trial, for patients with nonspecific chronic neck pain, tuina combined with yijinjing was more effective than tuina therapy alone in terms of pain, functional recovery, and anxiety at week 8, and effectiveness remained at week 12. A combination of tuina and yijinjing should be considered in the management of nonspecific chronic neck pain. Trial Registration: Chinese Clinical Trial Registry: ChiCTR2000036805.

RESUMO

Background: Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is characterized by persistent fatigue, which often leads to physical and psychological damage. The Prolong Life with Nine Turn method (PLWNT) Qigong is considered as one of the complementary treatments for improving symptoms in patients with CFS. In this study, we used functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to explore the effects of PLWNT intervention on the subjects with CFS. Methods: Thirty four CFS patients were randomly divided into PLWNT group and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) group. Both groups were taught by a highly qualified professor at the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine once a week and were supervised online during the remaining 6 days at home, over 12 consecutive weeks. We calculated the regional rs-fMRI index amplitude of low-frequency fluctuations (ALFF) for all subjects. To study the changes of the brain network, we used the brain regions with significant differences in ALFF as the regions of interest for whole-brain functional connectivity (FC) analysis. The Multi-dimensional Fatigue Inventory 20 (MFI-20) and Short Form 36-item Health Survey (SF-36) were used for clinical symptom assessment to explore the possible correlation between the rs-fMRI indicators and clinical variations. Results: The ALFF values of the right superior frontal gyrus (SFG), and left median cingulate gyrus (DCG) were increased, whereas those of the left middle occipital gyrus (OG), right middle OG and left middle temporal gyrus (MTG) were decreased in PLWNT group. The FC values between the DCG and middle temporal gyrus (MTG), and those between the left OG and the right OG were enhanced. In addition, the SF-36 were positively with the left OG (r = 0.524), SFG (r = 0.517), and DCG (r = 0.533), MFI-20 were negatively with the SFG (r = -0.542) and DCG (r = -0.578). These results were all corrected by FWE (voxel level p < 0.001, cluster level p < 0.05). Conclusion: CFS patients have abnormal regional spontaneous neuronal activity and abnormal functional connections between regions after PLWNT intervention. PLWNT can relieve the fatigue symptoms of CFS patients and improve their quality of life. The study was registered in the American Clinical Trial Registry (12/04/2018). Registration Number is NCT03496961.

RESUMO

Background: Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a complex disease of unknown etiology and mechanism. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Prolong Life with Nine Turn Method (PLWNT) Qigong exercise on CFS focusing on fatigue, sleep quality, depression, and anxiety. Methods: A total of 90 participants diagnosed with CFS were randomly assigned into two parallel groups: PLWNT and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). The participants in the PLWNT or CBT group participated in qigong exercise or cognitive behavior education program, respectively, once a week in-person and were supervised online during the remaining 6 days at home, over 12 consecutive weeks. The primary outcome was fatigue (Multi-dimensional Fatigue Inventory 20 [MFI-20]), and secondary outcomes were sleep quality (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index [PSQI]), anxiety, depression (Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale [HADS]), and changes in the Neuropeptide Y (NPY) of peripheral blood. Results: The within-group comparisons of the PLWNT and CBT groups revealed significant improvement in both groups in MFI-20, PSQI, and HADS scores (P < 0.05). No significant difference were found between the PLWNT and CBT groups, even though the effective rate of the PLWNT group was 62.22%, which is slightly than 50.00% of the CBT group. The fatigue scores in the PLWNT group were positively correlated with sleep degree (r = 0.315) and anxiety degree (r = 0.333), only anxiety degree (r = 0.332) was found to be positively correlated with fatigue in the CBT group. The analysis of peripheral blood showed that NPY decreased after PLWNT intervention but increased significantly in the CBT. Conclusion: The PLWNT qigong exercise has potential to be an effective rehabilitation method for CFS symptoms including fatigue, sleep disturbance, anxiety, and depression. Future studies should expand study sample size for in-depth investigation to determine the optimal frequency and intensity of PLWNT qigong intervention in CFS patients. The study was registered in the ClinicalTrials.gov database on April 12, 2018, with registration number NCT03496961.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Physical activity (PA) may protect against infertility by modulating the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis, thereby reducing gonadotropin levels, elevating immune function, and inhibiting inflammation and circulating sex hormones. However, whether PA reduces the risk of infertility remains largely unknown. We therefore conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to determine the preventive effects of PA on infertility. METHODS: We searched PubMed, Cochrane Library, EMBASE, and CINAHL databases to retrieve published epidemiologic studies on the relationship between PA and infertility. Following the PRISMA guidelines, we selected English literature publishedprior to 11 April 2022, and assessed study quality using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale. Our protocol, including the full methods employed for this review, is available on PROSPERO (ID = CRD42020143344). RESULTS: Six cohort studies and four case-control studies based on 708,965 subjects and 12,580 cases were eventually screened and retained. High levels of PA were shown to reduced risk of infertility relative to low levels (cumulative relative risk [RR] = 0.59, with a 95% confidence interval CI 0.49-0.71), and we reported results for cohort studies (RR = 0.63, 95% CI 0.50-0.79) and case-control studies (RR = 0.49, 95% CI 0.35-0.67). Our findings were comparable for men (RR = 0.65, 95% CI 0.41-1.04) and women (RR = 0.56, 95% CI 0.47-0.66). The meta-analysis of six risk estimates from five studies of low, moderate, and high PA levels showed that moderate PA may also reduce the risk of infertility compared with low PA (RR = 0.54, 95% CI 0.38-0.77). However, high PA also appeared to slightly augment the risk of infertility compared with moderate PA (RR = 1.31, 95% CI 1.08-1.59). CONCLUSIONS: This present systematic review comprehensively reflected an inverse relationship between different levels of PA and infertility, and our meta-analysis showed that a moderate-to-high PA level significantly reduced the overall risk of infertility, and that this level of PA activity was a common protective factor. In addition, limited evidence suggested that compliance with international PA guidelines would greatly lower the risk of infertility (RR = 0.58, 95% CI 0.45-0.74; I2 = 0.0%). Future studies, however, need to be executed to further determine the frequency, optimal dosage, and duration required to effectively attenuate the risk of infertility.

RESUMO

Metal corrosion is becoming increasingly serious in oil and gas production, and one way to solve this problem is to modify the metal surface. Thus, a corrosion inhibition coating on the N80 steel was constructed via the self-polymerization and assembling of the dopamine. The optimum reaction condition of polydopamine films was determined by the corrosion rate assessment of the films coated N80 steel, which was the reaction at 60 °C and 5 g/L dopamine in the Tris-HCl buffer solution (pH = 8.5) for 1 h. The spectral results confirmed the existence of the polydopamine coating on the surface of N80 steel, and high stability of the coating in the oil well produced water was observed. The anti-corrosion performance of the polydopamine-coated N80 steel confirmed that high temperature accelerated the anti-corrosion effect of the coating, and the corrosion rate of N80 plate in 90 °C oil well produced water was 0.0591 mm·a-1, lower than the standard value. The corrosion rates of the polydopamine coated N80, A3 and J55 plates at 90 °C were 0.0541 mm·a-1, 0.0498 mm·a-1 and 0.0455 mm·a-1, respectively. No significant effects of the categories of corrosive medium and steel plate on the performance of the coating were observed.

RESUMO

Single umbilical artery (SUA) is one of the most common prenatal diagnoses in cases of foetal abnormality. This prospective study evaluated 77 foetuses with isolated SUAs and 77 healthy foetuses, both at 22-39 gestational weeks. We categorised gestational age into the second and third trimesters, measured the umbilical arterial blood flow parameters and calculated the umbilical vein (UV) area, umbilical artery (UA) area and UV area/UA area ratio. In the second and third trimesters, a higher UA area was obtained in the isolated SUA group than in the control group (p < .01). Furthermore, the isolated SUA group had a lower UV area/UA area ratio than the control group (p < .01), and a positive linear correlation was found between gestational age and UV area in both groups (p < .01). The presence of isolated SUAs was associated with low birth weight and a high prevalence of small for gestational age.IMPACT STATEMENTWhat is already known on this subject? Single umbilical artery (SUA) is one of the most common prenatally diagnosed foetal abnormalities and approximately 80% foetuses with SUA have isolated SUA, which is a soft indicator of chromosome abnormalities, congenital malformations and premature birth. Umbilical cord cross-sectional area can be evaluated prenatally by ultrasound imaging. Normal values increase with gestational age and foetal size in single pregnancies. Changes in umbilical cord thickness have been associated with complications during pregnancy. What do the results of this study add? The correlation between gestational age and umbilical vein area in the isolated single umbilical artery (SUA) group and control group was better than that between gestational age and umbilical artery area. UA area increased significantly in both groups before 28 weeks but not after 28 weeks, particularly in the isolated SUA group. What are the implications of these findings for clinical practice and/or further research? The study provides a reliable basis for maternal foetal monitoring during pregnancy in the isolated SUA and control groups. Objective assessment of the occurrence and development of foetuses with isolated single umbilical artery was performed.

RESUMO

Since the 2019 novel Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) spread across the globe, risks brought by the pandemic set in and stock markets tumbled worldwide. Amidst the bleak economic outlook, investors' concerns over the pandemic spread rapidly through social media but wore out shortly. Similarly, the crash only caused a relatively short-lived bear market, which bottomed out and recovered quickly. Meanwhile, technology stocks have grabbed the spotlight as the digitally advanced sectors seemed to show resilience in this Coronavirus-plagued market. This paper aims to examine market sentiments using social media to predict the stock market performance before, during and after the March 2020 stock market crash. In addition, using the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development Taxonomy of Sectoral Digital-intensity Framework, we identified market sectors that have outperformed others as the market sentiment was impacted by the unfolding of the pandemic. The daily stock performance of a usable sample of 1619 firms from 34 sectors was first examined via a combination of hierarchical clustering and shape-based distance measure. This was then tested against a time series of daily price changes through augmented vector auto-regression. Results show that market sentiments towards the pandemic have significantly impacted the price differences. More interestingly, the stock performance across sectors is characterized by the level of digital intensity, with the most digitally advanced sectors demonstrating resilience against negative market sentiments on the pandemic. This research is among the first to demonstrate how digital intensity mitigates the negative effect of a crisis on stock market performance.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Insomnia is a common sleeping disorder which affects the quality of life which can bring harms to physical and mental health of human beings and even economic development. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) plays an outstanding role in treating chronic diseases and alleviating their symptoms. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to assess the treatment efficacy in patients with insomnia treated with abdomen-rubbing qigong exercise (ARQE). In addition, the brain function changes of patients will be explored by resting state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI). METHOD/DESIGN: This trial is a randomized, single-blind, controlled study planned to transpire between July 1, 2020, and July 31, 2021. A sample size of 114 participants (57 per group) with chronic insomnia will be randomly assigned to receive ARQE or CBTI for 8 weeks. The study duration will be 13 weeks, including a 1-week screening period, 8 weeks of intervention, and another 4 weeks of follow-up. The primary outcome is the Pittsburgh sleep quality index scores. Secondary outcomes include insomnia severity index, gastrointestinal symptom rating scale, the Hamilton Depression Scale, and rs-fMRI scan. The adverse events will be in control. DISCUSSION: The results of this study will help to clarify the efficacy of ARQE in the treatment of insomnia and try to use rs-fMRI technology to explore the brain function changes of ARQE in improving sleep quality in patients with insomnia disorder. If the results are as expected, this study will provide high-quality evidence for the treatment of insomnia with ARQE. TRIAL REGISTRATION: China Clinical Registration Agency ChiCTR1900028009 .
